This smart, custom-made contact lens is what is known as an “ortho-k” lens: it acts like a brace for the eye. You wear the lenses at night while sleeping. In the morning you take them out and see sharply all day without wearing glasses or lenses.

Features of DreamLite® MC:

  • Specifically supplied for myopia management
  • Full freedom when exercising and playing sports
  • No need for glasses or contact lenses during the day

Nearsightedness in itself does not have to be dangerous but can be especially pronounced in young people. The most significant increase usually occurs between the ages of 6 and 17.2 High myopia frequently leads to eye problems such as cataracts, glaucoma and retinal detachment.3 DreamLite MC night lenses are specially designed for myopia management and may have an inhibiting effect on myopia development, with the goal of preventing high myopia - and its associated vision problems - later in life.1 This is called myopia management. Myopia management is customized. A Myopia Management Expert can properly advise you which type of contact lens or type of treatment is best. The advantage of DreamLite MC night lenses is that they are worn only at night while sleeping. You can run, play sports and swim freely during the day without glasses or contact lenses.

If you are nearsighted you see well at close range and see blurry far away. This blurred vision is because your eye grows in (axis) length so much that the image you are looking at is no longer depicted on the retina but in front of it. Your eye is too long, so to speak. If the eye grows even longer (high myopia), the risk of unpleasant eye diseases such as retinal detachment increases dramatically. This growth is rapid in young people in particular.3 DreamLite MC night lenses are specially designed for myopia management and may have an inhibiting effect on myopia development. They act like braces for your eye. The special shape of the lens very subtly flattens the cornea at night when you are sleeping. This corrects your eye defect so you can see just fine during the day without your lenses in. This is ideal for playing sports.

Wearing contact lenses carries a potential risk of infection. Therefore, you should always follow the advice of the specialist and handle lenses correctly. For example, never clean lenses with water or put them in if your eyes are irritated. See the manual for all information on how to properly clean, store and use lenses. The manual can be obtained from your eye care specialist. The specialist works according to a protocol and makes sure you are properly informed and your eyes are checked regularly. To confirm that both parties will follow the safety instructions, the specialist will ask you to sign a lens agreement.

Before using your ortho-k lenses, always read the package insert that is provided by your contact lens specialist.

Solution advice: use a solution suitable for rigid lens materials with an active cleaner and optimal disinfection.

Technical information: DreamLite® MC is made exclusively in Boston XO material. The right lens is always supplied in purple and the left lens in blue. Available in OZ 5.5 and 5.0.

DreamLite® MC can be used in case of Myopia in:

  • A spherical spectacle refraction of -0.75 D up to -5.00 D
  • A cylindrical refraction with a maximum of -2.50 D
  • Normal, regular corneas
  • Absence of any ocular abnormalities or pathology

The specialist: as a specialist, you will work according to a protocol and ensure that the user is comprehensively informed about the use and maintenance of the DreamLite® MC lenses. As a specialist, you provide instructions for use with the lenses and ensure that the user has regular check-ups. To confirm that both parties will follow the safety instructions, it is recommended that an informed consent be signed by the user, possibly the parent/guardian and the specialist. You can easily order or download these tools through VISAVY®.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which contact lens is best for my eyes?

It depends entirely on you and your eyes. During an eye exam an eye care specialist assesses your eyes and looks at the strength and shape of your eye, among other things. You personal situation is also evaluated: When do you want to use them? How often? In what work environment? Based on all the measurements, you can choose the best lenses together with the specialist. Visit your nearest optician for an eye exam or consultation.
  • How do I clean my lenses?

It is important to clean your contact lenses daily. The moment you remove your lenses, it is important to clean, rinse and disinfect them with the recommended lens solution as prescribed or advised by your contact lens specialist. Contact lens cases should also be emptied, cleaned and rinsed daily, as they can be a source of bacterial growth. Importantly, lenses, lens cases and other lens-related products should not come into contact with (tap) water because of the increased risk of microbial keratitis.
  • What should I look for in lenses for my child?

Children can wear lenses as young as 8 years old on average. (1) Before a child can start wearing lenses, the eye care specialist explains what it means to wear the lenses and the responsibilities involved for the child, such as in the area of hygiene.
